Anderson, Rodne invite 5th District residents to offer input during June 17 teleforum

Constituents in the 5th Legislative District are encouraged to participate in a district-wide community telephone conversation on Thursday, June 17 with local state Reps. Glenn Anderson and Jay Rodne. The lawmakers will discuss the 2010 regular and special legislative sessions as well as other areas of interest in state government.

The hour-long teleconference begins at 6:50 p.m. To participate, citizens may call the toll-free community conversation number at 1-877-229-8493, and enter PIN code 15539 when prompted. Once on the line, callers may select star 3 (*3) on their telephone keypad to ask a question, or simply listen to the conversation. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the call to leave a message for the legislators to return.

“While I am out and around the community regularly, it is not always easy for constituents to attend in-person meetings. This call is an innovative way to reach out to the many very busy households and listen their thoughts, concerns and solutions to the challenges facing Washington,” said Anderson, R-Fall City.

“This telephone town hall is a convenient way for citizens to ask us questions and provide their input on issues important to our communities,” said Rodne, R-North Bend. “I encourage people to call in from the comfort of their own homes and participate at any level they feel comfortable with.”

The program works much like a call-in radio show and offers callers an opportunity to ask questions, vote in survey questions, and engage in a two-way conversation with Anderson and Rodne.

Constituents who are unable to join the conversation can contact Anderson and Rodne at their legislative offices. Anderson can be reached at (360) 786-7876 or Anderson.Glenn@leg.wa.gov. Rodne can be reached at (360) 786-7852 or Rodne.Jay@leg.wa.gov. Residents are also welcome to leave a message on the toll-free legislative hotline at 1-800-562-6000.
