Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It’s an honor serving as your 5th District state representative. This past biennium, I was pleased to vote for bipartisan operating budgets that prioritized our students and invested in higher education and the state’s mental-health system. K-12 education now makes up 48 percent of the operating budget. These are critical investments that will better the future of our great state. You can read about some of the investments we made this year in my previous email update.
In addition to these investments, we successfully avoided major tax increases pushed by Democrats and the governor the past two years. We can and should balance our state budget within existing revenue we all, hardworking Washingtonians, send to Olympia.
I want to be a resource to you, keeping you informed on the latest legislative action and how it affects you. However, this is an election year and under the provisions of a 1991 law created by Initiative 134, there are limits on what and when I can contact you. After this email update, the soonest I can send another is just before the 2017 legislative session convenes. That said, the initiative does allow me to respond to your direct questions, and I encourage you to write, email or call whenever you have a question, idea or comment to share. Please be sure to be clear that you would like a response from me and my office to ensure we are not contacting you outside of the ethics provisions explained above.
My door is always open, and I encourage you to stay in touch with my office. I always appreciate your feedback. If you ever want to meet with me one-on-one or would like me to speak at an event, please contact my office.
Thank you, again, for allowing me to serve you!
Sincerely,

Jay Rodne
