Rep. Jay Rodne sponsors two local students in House Page Program
Rep. Jay Rodne recently sponsored two local students in the House Page Program. The 5th District lawmaker welcomed Aja Corliss and Erin Lamos to Olympia March 20-25.
Aja, 15, is a sophomore at Mount Si High School and the daughter of Julia and Barry Corliss of North Bend.
Erin is also 15 and a sophomore at Mount Si High School. She is the daughter of Linda and Bryan Lamos of Snoqualmie.
During their week at the state Capitol, Aja and Erin attended page school daily to learn about the operations and actions of the Legislature. At the end of the week, each student sponsored mock legislation. They also delivered documents to state lawmakers and staff throughout the Capitol campus.
“The House Page Program continues to be a tremendous opportunity for our young people to get an up-close look at the Legislature and how laws are made,” said Rodne, R-North Bend. “I really appreciate the efforts of Aja and Erin, and I hope they enjoyed their time in Olympia.”
Students between the ages of 14 and 16 who are interested in the House Page Program must have parental permission, acceptable grades and a legislative sponsor. To learn more about the program, visit: http://www.leg.wa.gov/House/Pages/HousePageProgram.aspx.
